Visit the Barksdale Global Power Museum at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana - 10 Minutes from Interstate 20

The Barksdale Global Power Museum in Shreveport, Louisiana is one of those special places you have to visit when you are in the west Louisiana area. This museum features military artifacts that are not found anywhere else (including a podium utilized by President Bush after 9-11).

This museum is a quick stop away from Interstate-20 especially if you are traveling from Dallas-Fort Worth to Jackson, Mississippi; Birmingham Alabama; Atlanta, Georgia or Columbia, South Carolina.

I have always been interested in visiting this museum because it was so close, yet so far away because you need access to the base to gain admission to this free museum. If you have base access as a military member, dependent, civilian, or veteran, please make a stop at the Barksdale Global Power Museum.

If  you looking for things to do in Shreveport for the weekend or things to do with your children while visiting the area. It is great for couples as well! Check out our experience.

The I-20 Stop: Barksdale Global Power Museum in Shreveport, Louisiana
This museum has artifacts for the entire family to enjoy. The museum definitely exceeded our expectations in every day. The exhibits are amazing and the history portrayed through film and storytelling helped us discover the importance of remember what happened in the past.

They had great picture opportunities. We loved this part!

The museum even had a new exhibition about the lives and history of female Air Force personnel. Please check this out if you have a chance, it was fascinating!

There were also many great posters and military memorabilia.

The museum featured small scale replicas of aircraft (plus larger aircraft outside of the museum).

The museum also featured history about the Barksdale base and its namesake.

There was also a poster with the Air Force song. I wanted her to remember this by heart. This might be part of her life very soon! :)
